Event Description: In Virginia, all operators of motorboats (regardless of age) with a 10 hp or greater engine need to have passed an approved boating safety course. In addition, all jet ski (PWC) operators must be at least 14 years of age. You must be able to show proof when you are on the water. , ,Boat/Virginia is a FREE Boating Safety Course developed by the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) that meets the minimum requirements for earning the Virginia boating education requirement. The course is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and meets the boating education requirements in most states. The course includes boat design, basic operation, safety equipment, boat registration and documentation, trailering, boating laws, right-of-way rules and safe operation. , ,This course will be hosted by Olverson’s Marina near Lottsburg, Virginia, and taught by Certified Instructors of the Richmond Sail and Power Squadron - America's Boating Club of Richmond. , ,All class materials will be furnished by DWR.
